“I know what it's like to tell yourself a lie so often that it becomes the truth”

One of Us is Lying is a mixture of Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and CSI Miami but a bit more of Gossip Girl. The book focuses on 5 teenagers who got sent to detention but came out of detention as 4 people (one of them died during detention). It was devastating to read that a teenager died because of his allergies and lack of EpiPens in the nurses station.

About That blog which was made by Simon was used to release rumours - which were mostly true - of people in the school. What a high school attitude. Reading this book made me miss high school and all its shenanigans and drama that came with it.

However, I do not enjoy suicide books that I cannot connect to the sadness behind the reason or behind the people affected by the suicide. Personally this was a turn off for me

The writing style was very teenage-appropriate just as the book implied. I enjoyed it.

I did not see it coming and was I impressed by it? No. I cannot deal with suicide and I couldn’t feel the sadness from Simons sister concerning his plot to commit suicide and let Jake continue his work. I have several questions concerning that like was his sister also ok with Simon killing himself. WHY? because he was depressed. Why did she not suggest that he seek help than aiding in his suicidal journey.

And she took so long to open her mouth. WOW. extremely awesome right! even after she was in on letting her brother take it life.

In other news, I actually enjoyed the relationship between Nate and Browyn. They were so opposite in so many ways which made Nate insecure but made Brownyn want him more. But the end was so predictable which is one of the reasons I do not read romance novels.

Simon - the depressed guy, Nate - the i-can’t-be-bothered guy, Cooper - the high school football champion who turned out to be gay, Addy - the girl who couldn’t do anything without her boyfriend and Brownyn - the ivy league candidate. I connected to all characters solidly apart from Simon, his sister Janae and Jack the controlling boyfriend. Karen did a good job in explaining the stories behind each character which made it easier to act the movie in my head

Have you read this book? I really want to know your thoughts

In conclusion, ONE OF US IS LYING gets
