REVIEW 019: Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orisha #1) by Tomi Adeyemi

April 1, 2018

 525 pages

"Reality told us we would fail. But again and again, we fought. We perserved. We rose"

General

Children of Blood and bone. To be honest, I expected a whole lot from the book when Tomi Adeyemi revealed the map on her instagram page months back before the release and BOY! I did get more than my expectations. I felt like I was in the book. Like it was a mixture or WAKANDA and NARUTO with a bit of THE ALCHEMIST setting all packed together to give some va va voom story.

525 pagesssss! I already feel like an empowered black woman with powers to do anything for the good of the land. The book was action here action there action everywhere. LOVED IT

Writing

I think writing Young adult fictional book is quite difficult as you need to keep the reader engaged. COBAB was such an engaging and relatable book. The Yoruba was hardcore mehn. I am just too impressed honestly; just go read the book already.

Tomi did a really good job. The stories were less, and conversations were more. Her writing style is very apt and relatable; as I enjoyed every part.

AND THE FONT! I am a big judger of books by font type and size and even word/line spacing; COBAB was just perfect :)

Plot

This is fiction baby. You define your own plot in your imagination. Chart your path to bringing back the magic to the land.

Character

Are you for real???? EVERY FREAKING PERSON. Although I really did not like Inan, but why do I have this strong conviction that he will re-appear in the next book.

Have you read this book? I really want to know your thoughts

In conclusion, COBAB gets
